In the last class we learnt about Different organs used by animals to breathe.

At the end of today's class, you will be able to:

• distinguish between herbivores, carnivores and omnivores animals.
• give examples of animals that are herbivores, carnivores and omnivores on the basis of their eating habits.

Based on what they eat, different animals are placed in different groups:

Herbivores

herba = plant; vorous = eater

 GOAT            DEER

Some animals like cow, buffalo, zebra, goat, deer, horse and elephant eat grass, leaves, fruits, nuts or roots. These plant-eating animals are called herbivores .

Carnivores

carn = flesh; vorous = eater

SNAKE         LION

Some animals like lion, tiger, fox, snake, wolf and shark  eat flesh of other animals. These flesh-eating animals are called carnivores .

Omnivores

omni = all; vorous = eater

BEAR                         CROW

Some animals like bear, crow and human beings eat both plants and flesh of animals. They are called omnivores.
