GOOD  MORNING  BOYS!!


Let us   check the  answers  of the  exercises  at the  end of  the  lesson.  You  may  also  check  the  answers  for  the  questions  that I have given  in the  previous  blog. Make  sure  that  your  copy  work(C.W) is  complete  before  we  go to the  next  lesson. 


By  the  end  of this  lesson  we will be  able  to:
  •      Answer   multiple  choice questions,   fill in the  blanks, true  or  false  and  match the  following  questions  based  on the  lesson  GROWING PLANTS.
  • Draw  the  diagram of  plants  grown through  vegetative  reproduction.


Here  are the   answers  for  the    exercises  in  the  reader  . Make  sure  that  you  mark it  in your  reader  when  you   get  it. Do not  copy  these  questions in your  notebook.

             GROWING PLANTS ( Q  &  A) PART II   


Q1.   What  are  rabi  crops  and  kharif  crops?  Give two examples  for  each.
Ans. Crops  that  grow  in  winter  are called Rabi crops . eg:Wheat , gram
           Crops  that  grow in  summer  are called  Kharif crops. Eg:  Rice, Jowar

Q 2.   How  does  soil affect  the  growth  of  plants?
Ans. Different  plants  need  different types of  soil  according to  its  requirements.  The  plants  that  grow  well in  coastal region need salty soil and  plants that  grow in  hilly  region  need  moist  soil. Therefore  plants  that  grow  well in one type of soil may not  grow well in another type of soil.

Q3. What  are  the  factors  that  affect the  growth  and  development of plants? (Write  only  the  factors )
Ans. Factors  affecting  growth  and  development in plants  are:
           Type  of  soil,  climate  and  seasons.

Q4. Give five tips for a better crop yield.
Ans. A  farmer  uses the following  tips  for  a better  yield:
 1)Using  healthy and better quality of seeds for sowing.
 2) Prepare the land well before sowing.
 3)Adding manures and fertilizers to the soil.
 4)  Irrigation  of  the plants properly.
 5) Removing   weeds from the fields for the proper growth of plants.

Q5. Give two examples of each:
a) Insecticides:   D.D.T ,  gammaxene.
b) Fertilizers:      Urea, ammonium sulphates .


Now   see that  you  completed  the  diagrams:
  • Parts  of  a  seed
  • Vegetative  Reproduction (  divide  the   blank  side of  the copy page( by  drawing lines) into  4  sections  and  then in  each  section  these  4  sub headings 
1)From  roots  (  draw  sweet  potato  and  carrot)
2) From  stem (  draw  rose  plant  or  any plant that is  grown  from  stem cutting)

3) From underground  stem  (  draw  potato and  ginger)

4) From   leaves (  Draw  bryophyllum)
       
Now  take  another  blank  side / turn  your  page  and  
5) From  spores  ( Draw  fungi  and  ferns)
  The  task   given  in  red  is  for  today.  So  you  can  start  drawing!!!
